Musica. Moda. COACHELLA

Three crazy rocking days and nights in Indio, California. Looking forward to some favorites including the Strokes who have a new album, Angles, coming out March 22nd, Cold War Kids, Angus and Julia Stone, Duck Sauce, Arcade Fire, Black Keys, Animal Collectice, Mumford and Sons and the list goes on and on! Can't wait to check out some new tunes as well. Definitely a packed up line up (ehem Kanye West). The best part about this music festival is the hipsteresque fashions mixed with chic elegance all under the blazing Cali sun.

Updates

Here are some weekly updates, and some things to look forward to for future 2011 posts!
Iceberg, Fall 2011, Milan Fashion Week
  1. I am eagerly waiting for the Coachella lineup, it will definitely be posted here!
  2. Fall 2011 Menswear Fashion Week (special post for those fashionable men out there PLUS a special project of my own!)
  3. Fall 2011 Fashion Week. (NY Feb. 10-17; LON Feb. 18-23) CANNOT WAIT !
  4. Fashion & Music Series (there will be several random posts of these throughout this semester, be on the watch. The first in this series will be about mashup artist Greg Gillis from GIRLTALK and his HOUSTON show!)
  5. Tickle Me Pink Fashion Show updates, once the details for the show are finalized and what not.
Oh and now I am in creative writing and graphic design and I will dedicate those two class periods purely to fashion related things. So look out for some of my classwork, it might end up on here!

Le Golden Globes

How about that awkward Natalie Portman laugh during the Golden Globes? Or that awkward joke about the characters from "The Tourist" not being three-dimensional? Nonetheless, the dresses from the 2011 Golden Globes were spectacular and did not disappoint. While I question the taste of many artists such as Helena Bonham Carter (although she is quite the brave one to be so bold, which I respect), many of the dresses were gorgeous. I seemed to like many of the long-sleeved dresses, probably because I have an obsession with long-sleeved dresses and have not been able to find one for myself.

Giuliana Rancic in Zac Posen

Amy Adams in Marchesa

Emma Stone in Calvin Klein

Claire Danes in Calvin Klein (from the same collection as above, as the draping and fabric is similar)

Olivia Wilde in Marchesa

Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive

Angelina Jolie in Versace

Pre-Falling

New Pre-Fall collections are coming out daily, and I could not help myself but to stay awake late and look at all of the collections that are currently on style.com. My personal favorite designers such as Proenza Schouler and 3.1 Phillip Lim have already unveiled their pre-fall designs, and leave it for Fall Fashion Week for more of my favorite to show their collections.

Furs, patterns, and dark colors are just some of the characteristics that I have noticed in the 2011 pre-fall collections, traits which seem strangely familiar from 2010's fall trends. While the usual fur vest is still a popular design, I noticed that other articles of clothing were designed with furs, such as scarves and boleros. Pants and long skirts have been a major part of many designers' 2011 Pre-Fall Collections. Here are a few of my favorite looks from various designers who have revealed glimpses into their Fall 2011 collections. (All pictures from Style.com)

From Alber Elbaz's dangerously chi-flowy dresses photographed with wild animals such as panthers, polar bears, and other feline creatures, to Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough's beautiful patterned fabrics, Pre-Fall collections have been far from disappointing!

May I just reiterate the ambitiousness of Alber Elbaz to have his models model with wild animals? The prize for most creative photos definitely goes to Lanvin!

Celine

Diane Von Furstenberg
I love the colors that DVF used, the combination of aqua, green, and yellow are exquisite, although it does look more like a spring palette!

The two photos (above) are impeccable and capture a beautiful fashion moment. Well done Alber Elbaz.

Good 'ol Proenza Schouler is at it again with those beautiful and unique prints that the designer duo always seem to do.

La Vie en 2011

Happy New Year! I am back now as a second semester senior, and back to blog. As the 2011 year starts, I have begun interning at the Houston Magazine! I have been learning about more Houston hot spots and have turned into a 100% foodie.

And for more exciting news, I am going fabric shopping tomorrow and will start my last semester at Glassell this Saturday (which is sad).

Here are some of my favorite looks from Lookbook.nu. Frida J is the blonde and she is from Sweden. I hype every single one of her looks. They are all so different plus she dresses in my favorite colors (navy, pales, golds).

Loving the red tights, Jeffrey Campbell shoes, and cool pant looks that this avid lookbooker posts! Check out lookbook.nu for more pictures including my own lookbook posts!

Marc Jacobs

As many of you know, I went to one of Marc Jacobs' studios in New York City where I saw some of his sample pieces for his runway shows being made, and talked to one of the people who work closely with Jacobs during the shows fixing the pieces the day of the show etc.(See The.City post for more details).

I was inspired to write a little mock entry for an English assignment about Marc Jacobs for this really cool website, Stuff Jewish Young Adults Like and I recently submitted my entry and actually got it on the page! Check it out, along with the other very funny entries! PS the shout out is great!!
