One Month Later

How is it that I seem to have more time on my hands to look at fashion shows, write for other publications, go out on weekends, and take naps--and yet I find myself ashamed and embarrassed for what it appears like abandoning Moda RoJo?

Dear friends, Moda RoJo isn't disappearing anytime soon, so get back to reading cause I will be intensifying intensely, messing with my writing style, design, and absent photography skills. I might have over estimated my ability to maintain extra-curriculars alongside school work but it will no longer get it in my way of where my fashion writing began. Friends, I'm going to take Moda RoJo back to its roots, where you will find a combination of my designs, Proenza Schouler, Arctic Monkeys, and crepes. Yes--that means I am finally designing at school, I have time to search the interwebs for some Tommy Ton shots, and I just haven't eaten a crepe in a long time.

With NYFW over, that means we're headed over to Europe to see where the creative minds of master minds like Karl Lagerfeld have landed--well really that means my eyes will be glued to style.com for another three weeks. In the mean time, I'm formulating an epic post about Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez's latest collection, which was to-die-for, so that should be good granted I write it.

I'm working on a 20 x 20 color wheel made out pictures of food from old Martha Stewart "Living" magazines, and let me tell ya, it gets your appetite going. When that puppy is finished I'll be sure to snap a photo and place it on here so you will all see it. I also spent 6 hours today working on the shade and the tint of an actual color wheel--yes I am an accomplished artist.

For the past 24 hours I have been in this weird state where I cannot stop laughing and every ten minutes I get an ab workout with my good friend Tori. Either it's the odor of a dead animal outside my dorm that's getting to my cerebral cortex, or my lack of sleep that will clearly be affected by the time it has taken me to write this post.

And now I digress, leaving you with a couple of things:

1. My latest t-shirt that I made in apparel 1, as well as my fellow classmate's work.

2. The newest magazine which I write for (regarding fashion, le duh)--Terror Magazine that is; it's targeted for women (no pun intended guys) and the best part about this magazine is that it's a real publication, as in print. No my friends it is not a dying occupation. The blog is updated every day and when later this Spring the magazine launches, you will be the first to know.

4. Spark Magazine blog-->all week every week

5. CollegeFashionista, check out all my Fashionistos I photograph, they all like to wear glasses.

6. My favorite line from this past weekend: "If I can't even get a taxi here in Austin, how ever will I get one in New York?"

Oh and Bucks and Buster (my nickname from my sister--aka me) will be working on a special project at some point in the near near future, which basically means crazy things will happen.

The Beginning of What's Not the End

Hello all,

In case you have not signed the petition against SOPA and PIPA, please do so before continuing to read this post. Here's your chance. I'll even give you some time to think about it:

SIGN HERE

Now that that's done with, I will now inform you on my current schedule and life. As you may have noticed, last semester I was a bit absent from the blog. It was all that chemistry and calculus. However as I continue onto better classes that are for my major (textiles & apparel), I realize that yet again I will be swamped with homework and projects. I am currently in 15 hours (but technically it's 18), I am interning with CollegeFashionista (Check out my posts weekly, especially you boys!) But nonetheless I will try my hardest to keep Moda a la Rojo fresh and moving....so do not fret too much. Also remember to read Spark Magazine since I am a writer for the magazine. I will be sure to post links as soon as issues are released and if I am ever featured on the home page of CollegeFashionista.... well we'll see about that one.

Fall Fashion Week is quickly approaching and I can't promise you full coverage a la last year when I was a senior in high school and school was getting easier by the day, but I can promise you that I will be writing about at least a few shows and fixing up some dandy photos of collections for your eye's entertainment. I will be getting Photoshop, InDesign, AND Illustrator this week so some creative fixings will be coming your way.

I am also in an Apparel class so some photos of new designs I will be working on will be displayed here, and let's just say I might go beyond my boundaries and design some clothing for those martians we women like to call men! So boys, I might just be able to make you something now, but don't get your hopes up too high....

And finally I am also in a Visual Merchandising and Display class...it's basically all group work minus the final project so you might not see much of my stuff from that..but in any case, stay true to Moda Rojo and have faith, because I will make SOME time to write a bit, and post pictures. The good thing is that you can all FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER @MODAROJO where I update constantly via the cellular phone and TUMBLR  where I will post some cool photos and music so you can see where my ideas are straying to....

Enjoy browsing on the inter webs while you can! The full makeover for Moda RoJo is coming soon C:

SNEAK PEAK: NEW BANNER IN THE MAKING

The rough draft is under way a la Microsoft Word. Cannot wait to go back to Austin to purchase my indesign and photoshop package so that I can make the real banner! For now I am just messing around, but get excited for what's to come!

Look of the Day: Hello Leopold

My mother is a red head, and as a child I always had red hair. As I grew up I felt like it has slowly darkened to a browner shade, but after my sister shot this outside our house, I realized that my hair is still quite red, and this leopard print does help bring out my gingy-ness.

I am currently designing some skirts and shirts so hopefully progress pictures will be up soon! Also I've been looking to buy a dress for a while now and I finally bought it! It's yellow! Perhaps I will style a look of the day photoshoot and have it featured on the blog! If only I could get my paws on some Miu Miu shoes to make the dress look even better. One day, one day.

Pre-New Years Eve

...I now share my first photo shoot of the year. My sister took pictures of me for my Collegefashionista Style Guru bio picture. Oops I may have forgotten to mention that on the blog! From January to May I will be a Style Guru Intern for Collegefashionista, so be sure to read, tweet, and like my posts--I'll be photographing and writing about stylish boys around campus. Get ready boys.

In the mean time I have decided that I will probably spend my summer in Mexico, so I am currently looking for a place to intern while I am there. NYC will have a place for me soon...very soon.

I feel like I have updated you thus far; I have a bit more of vacation left so I will continue to design and write---it just so happens that I made my sister three scarves, two skirts, and one shirt today for her trip to NYC. She'll be set for that gallery exhibition of hers (watch out New York). While she abandons me and leaves me stranded in Texas, I will make sure to update the blog as best as I can. Because it is time I actually did--Moda a la Rojo needs some beauty shop time. So does my room, it looks like a fabric store exploded in here.

Happy 2012 everyone!

Out with the 2011, and in with the 2012

photo from intothefashion.com
As I get ready to celebrate the New Year, I noticed that the censor was still on my jacket that I had planned on wearing tonight...there goes my outfit that I have been saving to wear. On to planning a new outfit, gotta make it a good one for the last saturday of 2011. But anyhow...My sister just finished a photo shoot which I hope ended up nicely, the photos will be up soon!

I wanted to wish you all a very happy new year! Health and happiness to all! Keep reading Moda Rojo because 2012 is going to be a very big year for the blog---actually. Just wait, just wait.

While my sister abandons me and goes to NYC for the rest of winter break, I will be blogging like a mad woman. 2012 should be a good one.

Feliz ano nuevo a todos!!!!!!
