The Clothing for Today's Sports: Olympic Apparel 2012

While it is true that I have been absent from Moda RoJo, it does not mean that the thousands of thoughts that run through my brain at  a mile per minute have stopped pertaining to fashion...which really just means I have kept my thoughts to myself. But in honor of those things the Olympics that start today, I thought I would show some of the designs that international athletes will sport today.

As I sit in my seat every morning from 8 am- 12pm falling asleep  listening to my chemistry teacher, I started to think... "When are the olympics, and what do all the uniforms look like?" and that's when my thoughts no longer became solely mine, but of the students that sit around me too. By the end of the small 20 minute break we have, I along with the people around me were googling different 2012 Olympic uniforms. And to be quite honest, it was sparked by a tweet I saw criticizing Ralph Lauren for the production of Team USA uniforms in China which got my mind going....(on a side note) Most people that say they like fashion only refer to the clothes, but what I have learned over my entire lifetime is that I pretty much like everything that correlates to fashion, which by in large is everything--politics, economics, history, and cover your eyes Fashionistas of the world, science*.

But back to the premise of this post, the olympic uniforms. Here are the ones I could find and liked. I found it fascinating that top designers who usually don't deal with sportswear were designing the uniforms--well really just Georgio Armani, Hermes, Ferragamo, and Prada. Not gonna like, Stella McCartney did not surprise me because I already knew she had a collaboration with Adidas. and of course neither did Ralph Lauren because that's a known #classic. Lucky for San Marino athletes, they will carry swag while wearing Ferragamo which from the sketches looks very chic and European. Might I add that the Koreans aren't looking too shabby either and on that note, my new Taiwanese friends told me that they dress in the style of Korean girls so that style has come to my attention in the recent weeks.

Oh and also I'm excited to see soccer and gymnastics. Perhaps a bit of Badminton too.
